A King Crucified

Looking at Mat 26-27, Luke 22-23 you see Jesus refusing to answer the accusations in His ‘trial.’ v11 ‘Herod questioned Him at length, but He answered him nothing.’  I think that this is not defiance, or even as much refusing to dignify the accusations with a response. I think that He is the King of His Kingdom, and you cannot put a King on trial in a monarchy. He only answers when they ask Him if He is the Christ, and replies “From now on The Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” An allusion to being seating on His throne as King. Then Pilate asks “Are You the King of the Jews?” He replies “It is as you say.”
