Beholding the Father

Many verses tell of Jesus withdrawing to pray, but except for John 17,  they do not say what He prayed.  Once He prayed all night, Luke 9:22.  In John 14-17 we see His deep relationship with the Father and are left pondering the deep love they have in fellowship.  I believe that Jesus in His humanity on the earth had His eternal God nature as a man, but also spent time beholding His Father in prayer so that He could declare with power in John 14 that His diciples knew the what the Father is like, because they have known Jesus.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding dimly the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

We can carry the  countenance/character of the Father to those around Him by beholding the Father.  BUT if Jesus had to pray, how much more do we need this reality as a deep part of our lives!!
