Deconstructing Ihop

Bottom line: the prayer movement that has come out of ihop-kc has been such a fearsome force actually destroying works of darkness in the earth.  So satan has raised up many to attack it, and try and stop the intercession and discourage the intercessors.  Because God does little apart from the answer of prayer-John Wesley.  Our churches are only as effective as the intercession behind them.

The devil is not that afraid of what you believe about abortion or what your church’s political stances are.  The devil is afraid of you getting close to God and being given authority in prayer, you spending time in intercession, and releasing the Kingdom of God, which tears down the strongholds of darkness.  Thy will be done, thy Kingdom come, On Earth as it is in heaven, ie. released on earth!  Prayer is the way God governs the world.  So the enemy’s main target is places like ihop-kc which are not only praying 24/7, but are birthing other 24/7 prayer rooms into the whole world.

The prayer movement that has come out of ihop-kc has broken so many wrong paradigms about what the Father’s heart is really like.  So much condemnation comes out of pulpits and so many ministers have a harsh spirit because they lack the new wineskins and bridegroom paradigms (Matt 9:17) that that Ihop has trumpeted.

So not only has 11 years of unceasing prayer from ihop-kc been unrelenting in attacking the enemies territory and establishing the Lord’s Kingdom in its place, but the teaching has dismantled the strongholds in the minds of the burnt-out works-driven people and the guilt-ridden depressed who are effected by the condemnation that they think is from God.

Ihop  gets a lot of flack because they do teach that fasting is a biblical way to get more of Gods presence, (not His favor.)  They do have a Tuesday fast day but it is grace based, “don’t fast until you can’t stand not to.”  They get flack and people even call them a cult, because many in the American church have reservations about fasting, and still view it under the traditional paradigm or ‘wineskin’ or “view” that fasting is only a last resort in you really need a breakthrough.

Jesus actually talked about this in the bible!  He talked about a new wineskin, or “teaching” that people would fast to be closer to Him, and He linked this to the view of Him as Bridegroom.  Whenever Jesus talked about the church at the end of the age, or the pure and spotless bride, He called Himself a Bridegroom and the church a bride.  Even Rev 22:17 seems to suggest that the church will have a bridal identity.

14 Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?”

15 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.

16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. 17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

The Holy Spirit is often likened to wine and the Wineskins are that which holds the wine, or that which the Holy Spirit anoints.  Zech 8 is a paralell passage about fasting.   “the fast of the tenth, shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah.”

Bridal Paradigm

The bridal paradigm or Bridegroom revelation is accompaning the prayer movement.  The church is called a bride in the End-Times context as Rev 19:7-9 details the Marriage supper of the Lamb where every Christian who has ever lived receives a new holy heavenly body (Mat 22:30), and the reality/concept of marriage changes but what it stands for and represents (union/communion) stays the same. There is nothing sexual or impure about loving the Bridegroom.  The “kisses of the mouth” of Sos 1:1 are the same as when Jesus said “I live not by bread alone but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God.”  At Ihop-kc we sing ‘Kisses of the Word,’ to stop confusion.  We are never to picture an actual kiss, but we ask for the embraces of the Holy Spirit of the love of God on our innerman when we ask for the kiss.  Here is a introductory outline of how the Song is prayed and interpreted in the classic Messianic way.  (The currently more popular marriage view is also valid in some aspects, but all Scripture testifies of Jesus does it not?)
