The Anna Calling

“Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. ..and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” (Luke 2:36-38 NKJV)

Why on earth would the Holy Spirit prompt Luke to record Anna’s story?  I believe the answer relates to Luke 18:7-8 which we’ll look at next.  Anna prayed night and day in the temple with fasting for over sixty years just prior to the First Coming of Jesus.  Anna was also the first evangelist that we see in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit is raising up those like Anna once again to pray, fast and preach prior to Jesus’ Second Coming.  This “Anna Anointing” transcends gender and age, where men and women, young and old live as intercessory missionaries laboring for the fulfillment of the Great Commission, the spreading of the Gospel to all nations.  We also do mercy deeds and hospital praying and evangelism locally on a regular basis.

“And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”” (Luke 18:7-8 NKJV)

Jesus here ties finding faith on the earth at His return to finding a people crying out to Him day and night for justice.  Jesus will return and bring the ultimate justice, though that parable is about crying out for justice to break in before His return also.  John saw the church at the end of the age in a vision and she was in intercession, in unity with the Holy Spirit.  The verse is Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!”

Many such as myself have been called to pray as a full-time job day and night, serving the Lord with fastings, worship and intercession.  Out of this lifestyle we also evangelize and disciple.

The Lord is raising up a prayer movement to usher in His Return.  This house of prayer movement is essential to the Father’s plan to prepare the way on the earth for Jesus’ return. Luke 18:7 Day and Night intercession with fastings, the church crying out for Justice and His Return.

King David

It is in the model that the Lord instructed King David, with continual worship and prayer.  David invested billions of dollars out of his own treasury (in today’s currency) into 1000s of watchmen, musicians, and  singers, because he knew the value of it to the Lord.

You can participate in something necessary to the Coming of the Kingdom personally with us or financially sowing into us.  2 Cor 9:6 Says if we sow bountifully we will reap bountifully.  Many have experienced heightened favor by asking the Lord what He is doing in this hour and sowing into it.  Our prosperity can be used of the Lord as a funnel into His purposes that He sustains.

The House of Prayer in Kansas City which you can see at the Prayer Room webstream at, has prayer going 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has since 1999!  Every two hours a worship/prayer team starts a set of worship and intercession.  This intercession is led by “Annas” or “Intercessory Missionaries.”

We are all familiar with missionaries who focus on preaching or mercy deeds (providing food, medical care, etc.). But the Lord is also calling forth a new type of missionary that is essential to completing the Great Commission. The foundational example of this type of missionary is found in Luke 2:36-38:

“Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. ..and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” (Luke 2:36-38 NKJV)

Wisdom of Intercession

John Wesley is quoted as saying ‘God does little apart of the prayers of men.’  We know James said the prayers of righteous men make much available.  We continually pray Joel 2 and Eph 1:17 for targeted cities and countries, that the Father would release revelation of Jesus and the harvest would come in, the way would be made straight for the Lord’s return.  Holy-Spirit Out-pouring and revival in our city and Israel is key.

Intercession and worship is the means that God has chosen to establish His kingdom on the earth. Prayer changes the spiritual atmosphere over cities and nations (Matthew 6:10, Psalm 149). Prayer brings us into agreement with God’s heart, and from that place of full agreement and partnership God’s kingdom breaks in to the earth.  Man cannot bring in the harvest alone, it is the strategy of God to use people to pray  and ‘release’ the Holy Spirit in power on the world.  We can track most revivals back to prayer meetings.

So many ministries have so many ‘better’ ideas than prayer and that is why we see so little fruit.  By praying the prayers for the lost that the Spirit gave Paul like the “Eph 1:17 release of the Spirit of revelation unto the knowledge of Christ”, God responds and draws real people to Jesus (John 6:44).  He enlightens their spiritual eyes to see Christ.

The ministers and preachers who have labored in prayer and are covered in prayer move in the power in of Spirit, as Jesus did.  John 14:12 states that some will one day do greater works even, and this will happen through the power-releasing prayers of intercessors.

Jesus’ desire was that the kingdom and the will of God would be completely manifest on the earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Jesus won’t do this “in a vacuum”, apart from men and women doing it in partnership with Him.  Jesus said that His kingdom would not come not by human force or might and not by human intellect or wisdom, but by Godly wisdom – simply by saying back to God in prayer what He told us to tell Him through the Word and Spirit. It is as the church all over the globe and these “set”, full-time watchmen like myself ask the Lord persistently and cry out day and night (Luke 11, Luke 18:7-8), He promises to release speedy justice and establish the kingdom of God on the earth.

Supporting the Prayer Movement

Amos prophesied of the restoration of David’s Tabernacle. When Israel went astray, God raised up reformers who restored worship as David commanded. All the 7 “OT revivals” restored this. In May 1983, the Lord called IHOP-KC to establish 24/7 prayer in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David.  Again, we are so grateful we have been graced to do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since 1999 there has been worship and intercession going forth in our house.

David established 4,000 full-time paid musicians, 288 prophetic singers and 4,000 gatekeepers. Thus, he financed about 10,000 full-time staff to facilitate worship. In today’s terms it would cost about $200 million a year to provide $3,000 a month for 5,000 full-time people (plus buildings costs).  The Lord is zealously moving on the hearts of people who have marketplace callings to commit to make offerings to support intercessors and musicians directly, as they all raise their own support in the YWAM model and are not paid by the Houses of Prayer.  Many have families and houses, fully financially supported by the Lord through His church, people like you.

Listen to Mike Bickle detailing the calling:

“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”  (Isaiah 62:6-7 NKJV)

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  (through intercession) (Matthew 6:10 NKJV

Prayers of the bible pt 1

The newestCoffee Talk with John Paul Jackson has me thinking about how many Christians have pursued better jobs, nicer climates and such and are out of the will of God, our of their destiny. He forms us in the womb with a plan and a destiny..

That’s why I think praying Col 1:9-12 is so crucial. Praying Paul’s prayers that are in Scripture is praying the Holy Spirit’s desires… Guaranteed to be answered. So we pray to know His will in all wisdom and spiriutal understanding, so that we would have a walk worthy of our calling in the Lord. Powerful stuff.

I know many ‘just want to pray want is on my heart.’ And that is totally awesome, and neccessary. But the church has got to get a hold of praying the Holy Spirit’s prayers in the bible. Eph 1:17-19 is the greatest need for any church, unbeliever, anyone. 2nd Cor 4:4 says that the enemy has blinded the mind of unbelievers to the glory of the gospel, so right there its clear to pray for the Eph 1:18 enlightenment.

So yeah you want to be closer to Jesus, v17 that the Holy Spirit would bring revelation of His glory to your innerman. You want the councel of God?? v17- Spirit of Wisdom. Power? v19 Surpassing greatness. To see Jesus clearer? v18- see above. To see what the Father has in for Jesus in us saints v 19 glory of His inheritance in the saints.

He did it for Ephesus, He’ll do it for you. These prayers are prophetic promises of what God wants and need to do in your life to bring you to maturity and to your destiny. Guaranteed answered prayer.

To know your destiny?? v19 Hope of your calling. And in this we can escape the plans of the enemy to keep us blind to our destiny, falling the world, our families, our just plain moving forward without vision… which proverbs Pro 29:18 says is to perish.
